Pet Regulations
We love our pets. Who doesn't?
Here are the rules.
City of Goose Creek Code of Ordinances Section 4-3 states that a total of three dogs and/or cats may be kept or harbored at any residence without a permit. Up to six dogs and/or cats may be kept or harbored at any residence, provided such owner of said residence obtains a permit from the city for the additional dogs and/or cats over three; the permit fee for each additional dog and/or cat shall be $25, annually.
Animal Control Permit Renewal
The animal control conditional use permit must be renewed each year. For more information, please contact Animal Control.
Leash Reminder
Goose Creek residents are reminded that all pets must be kept on a leash at all times when they are anywhere in the city outside of their owner’s property. According to City Ordinance 90.04, it is “unlawful for any owner or custodian of any animal to permit the same to run-at-large at any time within the city.”
City law states that in addition to being on a leash, a dog must be obedient to its owner’s commands, and residents must pick up after their pets when outside of their own property.
