Stay informed and take precautions: City monitoring coronavirus
Mar 12 2020
City officials are continuing to closely monitor the progress and updates on the global coronavirus pandemic.
Based on all of the available information that we have been given by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and the U.S. Center for Disease Control, there is currently no change in City of Goose Creek operations, or to any upcoming City events. Contingency plans are in place, however, should they be needed, and any changes or updates will be announced here.
We encourage everyone to stay educated and updated on coronavirus. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and the national Center for Disease Control are both excellent resources.
In South Carolina, DHEC has set up a phone line for public inquiries about the virus. The number is 1-855-472-3432 and is available 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
We strongly encourage all of our residents to take the following precautions in the days and weeks ahead:
• Stay updated through both the local and national news outlets as well as trustworthy social media sites.
• Wash your hands frequently.
• Do not shake hands.
• Sneeze into your elbow.
• Stay home from work or school if you are not feeling well, and especially if you are running a fever.
