Berkeley County is required to update its Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) and would like your input.
A “hazard” is a threat to your life, property, or wellbeing. “Hazard mitigation” is any action taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards and their effects. South Carolina is vulnerable to natural and man-made hazards, including, but not limited to hurricanes, flooding, coastal issues, thunderstorms, earthquakes, lightning, hail, sea level rise and winter weather.
