CSX to close railroad crossing on Red Bank Road June 25-29
Jun 15 2018
CSX Railroad has notified the City of Goose Creek that the railroad crossing at Red Bank Road and Highway 52 will be closed from June 25 to 29 in order to replace a portion of the railroad tracks. Motorists must use detour routes during this time.
The intersection at U.S. Highway 52 and U.S. 176 in Goose Creek is scheduled from 6 a.m. on Monday, June 25 until June 29. During this time the railroad crossing will be closed entirely.
Motorists must follow alternate routes. There will be two detours in place to assist with traffic flow. Detours signs, temporary markings, and traffic barrels will be set-up, indicating proper traffic flow.
Motorists can take U.S. Highway 52 to N.A.D Road to Old State Road (Goose Creek Road) to access Red Bank Road. As an alternative, motorists can take U.S. Highway 52 to Liberty Hall Road to Henry E. Brown Jr. Boulevard. Residents can preview the detour routes by viewing the map attached.

This project is being managed by CSX. The rail transportation company plans to remove the entire railroad track and replace it during the project. The timeline of the project is dependent upon weather and subject to change.
CSX plans to work with local law enforcement agencies to ease traffic congestion. Traffic signals will be adjusted along detour routes to ease congestion during peak traffic times. Speed limits will also decrease around the construction zones.
This work is expected to impact commuters in Goose Creek, Hanahan, North Charleston and surrounding areas.
Motorists are asked to be vigilant and look for detour signs while traveling near Red Bank Road and U.S. Highway 52.
Further updates before and during the closing will be immediately shared with residents.
