Community invited to 'Coffee with a Cop'
Sep 27 2018
Goose Creek Police Officers will gather with the community to discuss issues, build relationships and drink coffee – and you’re invited to join them.
“Coffee with a Cop” begins at 6 a.m. and continues until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Chick-Fil-A on St. James Avenue. Everyone is welcome to attend.
For many, interaction with the police only takes place during emergencies or emotional situations. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for relaxed, one-on-one interaction. The unique event is an opportunity for residents to ask questions and learn more about the GCPD’s work.
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the country as local police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.
The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.
