City offices reopen; trash pickup resumes Thursday

City offices are open Thursday, and residential trash pickup service has resumed. Wednesday and Thursday pickups are taking place Thursday, Aug. 8.
Wednesday 1:50pm UPDATE:
City offices will open Thursday with normal hours, 8am to 5pm.
Residential trash pickup will re-start on Thursday, with Wednesday & Thursday trash pickup both taking place on Thursday. Please be patient as pickup may take longer than usual.

Reminder: Our Public Works building is closed today. All Public Works crews are working in the field today, so phone calls to DPW will not be answered.
The City of Goose Creek Fire Department’s Back to School Splash event scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled.
Berkeley County Government’s Citizen Call Line remains activated for all non-emergency storm-related issues. That number is 843-719-4800.

Huge thanks to our City Police, Fire and Public Works crews, as well as our partners at Berkeley County Government and the State, for their hard work dealing with Tropical Storm Debby today. We appreciate the teamwork and incredible effort!
Residential trash pickup, and yard debris pickup, will not take place on Wednesday. We will update Thursday & Friday’s schedule as soon as possible.
City offices will be closed Wednesday. Thursday & Friday hours will be updated soon.

City offices will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will share any further information regarding re-opening as soon as possible.
Sand remains available for self-serve pickup at the Goose Creek Fire Department Headquarters Station (201 Button Hall Avenue). Additional sand bags were requested and delivered earlier today. Please note: We are not able to home-deliver sand to residents.
The City’s residential trash pickup is planning to continue as normal on Tuesday. We will continue to pick up residential trash as long as the County landfill remains open.

Monday 11:15am UPDATE:
We are continuing to prepare for the expected record rainfall and potential Tropical Storm-force winds that Debby may bring. A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the Lowcountry.
Sand remains available for pickup at the Goose Creek Fire Department Headquarters Station (201 Button Hall Avenue), and a new delivery of sand was made at 11am. We will continue to request additional sand deliveries from the county as long as it is available. Remember to bring your own shovel if possible. Sandbags are provided on site.

Goose Creek Planning Commission’s Aug. 6 meeting will be rescheduled.
GCPD’s National Night Out scheduled for Aug. 6 has been rescheduled for Sept. 17.
City Gov 101, scheduled for Aug. 8, has been postponed. A new date will be announced soon.

Monday 8:10am UPDATE: A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston and coastal Colleton counties. A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Beaufort, tidal Berkeley, Charleston and coastal Colleton counties. A Flood Watch is in effect for the Lowcountry until Friday at 8 a.m.

We are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Debby, which is expected to bring very heavy rainfall and possible Tropical Storm conditions to the area starting late Monday / Tuesday morning. Sandbags will be available for pickup at the Goose Creek Fire Department Headquarters Station beginning Monday at 8am.
