Residences near the construction site of the city’s new water tank may be impacted by work on the tank early next Tuesday morning (Nov. 8). The contractor has completed driving the piles and preparing the site for the installation of the foundation for the new water tank at the Senior Center on Thurgood Road. They are now ready to pour the concrete for the foundation. For this, the contractor will need to begin early in the morning to ensure that the 32 trucks of concrete that are needed can be delivered to the site. This delivery is critical, as it must be a continuous cycle to ensure that the concrete cures as one monolithic structure to support the water tank. To accomplish this, the contractor will begin at 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Citizens can expect to see concrete delivery trucks in the areas of Old Moncks Corner Road and Thurgood Road beginning around 3 a.m. and continuing most of the morning. Efforts have been taken to minimize the impact to the surrounding properties, but one can expect to hear some traffic noise as the concrete trucks arrive and leave the site. Possible impacts could be vehicular traffic along Old Moncks Corner Road and Thurgood Road, temporary lighting to allow the nighttime work, motor or pump noises from the concrete, trucks and back-up alarms as they traverse to and from the tank site. The City appreciates everyone’s patience as this important project continues. Please click the link below to see a map of the affected area.
