The City of Goose Creek’s unique history will be told this fall, as Mayor Michael Heitzler’s popular historical lecture series returns in October.

The free lecture series – “Goose Creek Backyard History” – will be held at City Hall from 6 to 8 p.m. every Thursday, Oct. 6 through Nov. 17. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mayor Heitzler has authored five history books and 14 historical booklets and articles. He has researched Goose Creek history for decades, and his presentations are filled with stories of the men and women who, across the centuries, helped shape a City and region.

Topics for the fall include:

Oct. 13: Otranto, Elms, Crowfield and Medway Plantations

Oct. 20: The Chicken Trilogy

Oct. 27: Goose Creek Ghosts and Legends/Introducing the “Trillium Angel”

Nov. 3: KKK and the Emergence of the New South

Nov. 10: Mansions and Moonshine

Nov. 17: Bar Fights and the Birth of the Modern City of Goose Creek
