Mayor Michael Heitzler has proclaimed Aug. 8-14 “Knights of Columbus Family Week” in Goose Creek.

Knights of Columbus Council 11991 members and supporters, including Deputy Grand Knight Jim Kelly and Family Director Frank Bautista, joined Mayor Heitzler on the morning of Aug. 8 as he signed the proclamation at City Hall.

The Knights of Columbus, the largest Catholic fraternal organization, includes over 14,000 councils and 1.8 million members worldwide. The organization uses the week to celebrate and emphasize the importance of family with a host of programs and activities.

The proclamation commemorates “both the birth and death of (Knights of Columbus) revered Founder Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney;” recommits “to the ideals that provide opportunities for families;” and pledges to “make sure that Church, Family Life and Community will remain vigorous and undiminished.”
